JOB DESCRIPTION
BUS DRIVER
This position is responsible to the Director of Transportation. The Bus Driver has responsibility for providing safe and efficient student transportation.
- To maintain discipline when students are on the bus and report undisciplined students to the principal.
- To keep assigned bus clean.
- To keep assigned bus schedule.
- To inspect bus daily before each operation for mechanical defects.
- To notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- To observe all mandatory safety regulation for school buses.
- To discharge students only at authorized stops.
- To exercise responsible leadership when on District school trips.
- To transport only authorized students and personnel. This includes regular routes and field trips.
- To report all accidents and complete required reports.
- To enforce regulations set forth by the district and by State Transportation Department.
- To perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Have a valid Commercial License.
- Have a temporary State Certificate before driving with children (for maximum first (6) months of employment
- Have a state Certificate issued by the State of Arizona (within (6) months of employment) for school bus driving.
- Attend Drivers meetings held by the District.
- Have an annual physical between June 1st and August 15th of each year.
- Know state rules and regulations on school buses and drivers.
- Must have a valid IVP Fingerprint Card.
