JOB DESCRIPTION

Special Education Bus Aide

 

 

DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:   Special Services Director, under the immediate supervision of the Bus Driver and Transportation Director.

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to perform simple clerical tasks proficiently
  2. Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  3. Ability to maintain discipline in all school settings
  4. Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff and students.

 

JOB STATUS:

  1. There is no tenure established in this position.
  2. This position is paid on an hourly basis and employment is for school days in session.

 

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:  There is a probationary period of ninety (90) days.  At the end of that time, the employee will be evaluated by his / her supervisors.  If the evaluation is favorable, the employee will continue to work for the District.  An unfavorable evaluation will result in termination.

 

DUTIES:

  1. Aide teacher/bus driver in preparing room/bus for school/route.
  2. Help prepare and distribute materials.
  3. Instruct students under teacher’s supervision.
  4. Keep classroom/bus neat and orderly.
  5. Aide teacher/bus driver in arranging bulletin boards/seating arrangements.
  6. Supervise playground under teacher’s supervision.
  7. Assist with student records when asked/assist students on/off bus & w/safety restraints as needed.
  8. When necessary, supervise students in cafeteria.
  9. Aid in storing materials and getting classroom ready for closing of school.
  10. Performs other general duties as assigned.

 

GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be punctual in all assignments.
  2. Observe all District policies appropriate to this position.
  3. Accept the responsibility of assigned tasks.
  4. Comply with confidentiality guidelines.
  5. Attend training sessions required by Building Principal.
  6. Perform other general duties as assigned.
  7. Must have a Valid IVP Fingerprint Card.
